Found this one recently when browsing, a great documentary on the ‘Amen’ breakbeat and it’s influence on music.
Can I Get An Amen? is an audio installation that unfolds a critical perspective of perhaps the most sampled drums beat in the history of recorded music, the Amen Break. It begins with the pop track Amen Brother [...]

I can’t say I’m a huge fan of The Charlatans but it’s nice to see another “big” group giving their music away for free.
Head over to XFM who are providing the album as a zipped set of mp3 files or as separate mp3 downloads.
You’ve already feasted your ears on two phenomenal singles: title track ‘You Cross My [...]

Back with more sleazy lounge electronica is the follow up to the very popular first compilation album, and just in time for valentines day…how romantic.
I’ve not listened yet but the first one was better than expected, and you’ve just got to love the idea of porn ‘wakka chikka’ inspired music.
WM Recordings has gladly agreed [...]

Another fine release from Russian netlabel Pulsations For You.
This one is Stud - LSAD [puls07] and was originally released on the Dars records label in 2005 and has now been re-released for free on Pulsations For You at the kind request of the artist Alexey Devyanin.
The album is a nice chunk of electronica/IDM with a [...]

A nice chilled mix of netlabel ambient electronica style music for your listening pleasure.
I’ve had this one playing in the background and it’s a very relaxing mix if you fancy something a bit downtempo to listen to.
You can find it here at Mixotic which is a netlabel specialising in free DJ mixes, I’ll have a [...]

Jahtari are a great label I’ve only just recently discovered releasing “Digital Laptop Reggae”. I don’t care what they call it, they are releasing some superb music from some interesting artists using new technology to create a modern twist on the dub sound.
Dubmood’s latest release “Atari-Ska L’Atakk” is a chiptune album of Ska covers and [...]

Riding high in the most downloaded chart over at the internet archive is this 2nd release from Russian netlabel “Pulsations For You“.
It’s a strange blend of electronica and jazz with a whole load of other influences chucked in, all in a very playful, light-hearted manner which I wasn’t really expecting from Russian electronica.
It’s oddness but [...]

BitLet.org the web based BitTorrent client has a fairly new feature in beta which you can find here.
Simply insert a torrent URL and hit play and providing there are enough seeds to get a decent speed you should be able to stream the music directly with the Java based applet that loads.
It’s a pretty neat [...]

It is perhaps rather telling that this album consistently in the ‘most downloaded’ charts over at the internet archive. I could start with bad puns about how I came across it but that would be rather juvenile of me. *snigger*
All I’ll say is that I just love the idea and the album name so I [...]
