Ever wonder what the Portal turrets talk about…well now you know.
If a turret whines about his job, and nobody is around to hear it, does it make a sound? You bet it does. “A Day in the Life of a Turret” looks at the lives of two turrets at the Aperture Science Enrichment [...]

I’ve been registered at We7.com for a while now and it’s a decent site for free music both downloadable and streaming. They’ve gone for an advertising based system with audio adverts being attached to both downloaded and streamed tracks. This might irk some people but it’s not really bothered me as much as I thought [...]

As I tend to ignore most of the news on April 1st due to the oh so hilarious April Fool’s jokes, I missed the start of PodCastle, a podcast I had been looking forward to some time.
It’s from the same people who produce EscapePod and PseudopPod, two superb fiction podcasts. PodCastle follows in their footsteps [...]

Another quality free ebook this month in the shape of Mothers & Other Monsters by Maureen F. McHugh. The reviews look very good and I’m a sucker for short stories so this is now sitting somewhere in my to-read pile/cloud.

Maureen F. McHugh [...]

However it was noticed by pretty much the [...]

Since my dabble with reading some Manga I’ve also been looking at good places to watch some free Anime online and the best place by far has to be crunchyroll.com.
Containing more videos than you could possibly watch, some english dubbed and plenty of subtitled and fan-subbed and lots of them complete or ongoing series there [...]

The New Yorker currently has a fascinating article about elevators/lifts called “Up and then Down”….trust me it’s more interesting than it sounds.
The article also tells the sad tale of Nicholas White who was trapped in a New York elevator for fourty-one hours, including an interesting time-lapse CCTV video of his ordeal.

Found this one recently when browsing, a great documentary on the ‘Amen’ breakbeat and it’s influence on music.
Can I Get An Amen? is an audio installation that unfolds a critical perspective of perhaps the most sampled drums beat in the history of recorded music, the Amen Break. It begins with the pop track Amen Brother [...]
