Free Classic SciFi Radio Drama - Day of the Triffids
John Wyndham’s post-apocalyptic novel “Day of the Triffids” was the book that made his name and it is still worth a read.
However if you don’t fancy opening the dead treeware head over to the internet archive and snag this six part BBC radio adaptation.
I didn’t think this was in the public domain as is suggested so may be worth grabbing before it disappears.
This full-cast drama is based on the classic post-war ’science fantasy’ novel which made John Wyndham famous, and whose appeal endures to this day. Giles Cooper’s six-part adaptation stars Gary Watson, Barbara Shelley and Peter Sallis, with appearances from Doctor Who names Peter Pratt, Christopher Bidmead and David Brierley. Divided by blindness and societal breakdown, humanity is at the mercy of the carnivorous Triffids… This BBC Radio 4 production was made and broadcast in 1968, and later transmitted via World Service.
