Original SimCity Game Released Free Under GPL
SimCity the original city building game has been released for free under the GPL with full source available for anyone who wishes to tinker.
I remember playing this for hours on my trusty old Amiga and although it’s dated quite a bit since the glory days of that beige box, it’s still an enjoyable game.
No doubt those creative hackers and geeks will get hold of it and do some interesting things. Here’s hoping for a nice new version with updated graphics, sounds and interesting tweaks to the gameplay but a more likely scenario is someone managing to squeeze it into a linux embedded toaster or something.
