Controlled Screaming

It seems Sophie has decided that sleeping is no longer for her and she would much rather scream and thrash about than try to go to sleep when tired.

I’m not exactly sure what has brought this on but as ever we simply play the guessing game. Is it the huge number of teeth she has recently sprouted? Does she have one more illness to add to the constant stream of bugs that have plagued her for the last two months? Who knows but what is even harder is knowing how we are supposed to get her back into a normal routine. Our current method is to let her scream for as long as we can take it and then go and see to her, this is repeated until either she is asleep or we are insane and no longer care.

Its actually been a difficult month or so now with teething, illness and bad sleeping all combining to create Zombies out of both me and Claire.

The good things are still very good though. I was cycling along the river path with Sophie yesterday and today with the sun shining and its times like that when it all seems to make sense. Everyone we passed had a smile for Sophie or a hello and she had a lovely time just chatting nonsense and watching the world go by. I’m sure I’ll forget the screaming in months and years to come but I’ll never forget our little trips out and about with no one to bother us and nowhere in particular to be.
